John Martin Sengele, age 77 of Collinsville, IL, born August 6, 1935 in Strasbourg, Alsace-Lorraine, France, passed away at 10:49pm on December 16, 2012 at Fountain View Memory Care Center in Granite City, IL.

John graduated from Concordia Teachers College, River Forest, IL, and was a retired Lutheran school teacher and principal having worked at Good Shepherd in Saginaw, MI and Grace Lutheran in Kansas City. John enjoyed bowling and received awards for three perfect 300 games, as well as gardening and working in his yard.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. Martin F. and Florence nee Oelstrom Sengele, and a brother, Frederick Sengele.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann nee Nuske Sengele, whom he married on June 14, 1958; one son, Mark (Lynn) of Collinsville, IL; two brothers, Richard Sengele of Menomonee Falls, WI and Robert Sengele of Conroe, TX; and one grandson, Luke.

Memorial visitation will be at 12pm to 1pm on Saturday, December 22, 2012, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 1300 Belt Line Rd., Collinsville, IL.

Memorial service will be at 1:00pm on Saturday at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church with the Rev. Michael Walther and Rev. Paul Hemenway officiating.
