John Irvin Sorbie, age 81 of Collinsville, IL, born November 20, 1939 in St. Louis, MO, passed away on July 8, 2021 at Liberty Village in Maryville, IL.

John served in the U.S. Navy.  He was a retired mold maker.  In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting and pigeon racing with his father.  Most of all, he loved fishing and boating with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Lucille (n ee Walker) Sorbie.

He is survived by his loving wife, Patricia "Diane" ( nee Shobe) Sorbie, whom he married October 1, 1976; five sons:  John (Jill) Sorbie of Troy, IL, Richard (Laura) Sorbie of Farmington, MO, Daniel (Stefanie Vittitow) Sorbie of Collinsville, IL,  Michael (Joy) McHenry of Canton, GA and Richard (Kim) McHenry of Belleville, IL; 14 grandchildren:  Michelle, Nick, Samantha, Randy, Heather, Ricky, Tommy, Olivia, Isabella, Aiden, Elle, Makynlei, Cassie and Savannah; 8 great-grandchildren:  Alyssa, Anthony, Conor, Cecilia, Madelyn, Grayson, Ethan and Dylan; a brother, Richard (Kathy) Toon of Caseyville, IL; and a sister, Bonnie (Charles) Quigley of Palm Harbor, FL.

It was his wishes to be cremated; private services were held.
