John Harlan
Trione
Oct 16, 1942 — Dec 1, 2025
Troy
John "Jack" Harlan Trione, 83, of Troy, IL, peacefully passed away on Monday, December 1, 2025, at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born on October 16, 1942, in East St. Louis, IL, to the late Charles and Eunice (née James) Trione.
Jack was a 1960 graduate of East St. Louis High School. He went on to build a long and dedicated career as a switchman for the railroad. His passion for horses led him to become a horse owner at Fairmont Racetrack and the former Cahokia Downs.
An Eagle Scout in his youth, Jack carried the values of service, integrity, and leadership with him always. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and a true lover of horseracing. He also enjoyed cheering on Illini college basketball, especially during the excitement of March Madness. Above all, Jack cherished time spent with his family, and he especially loved babysitting his grandchildren, who were the light of his life.
In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Colleen Annette (née Dill) Trione; two brothers, Charles and Thomas Trione; and his brother-in-law, Carl Hall.
He is survived by his four children: John Trione of Lake Geneva, WI, Tracey Trione of Springfield, IL, Dana (Ronald) Chinn of O'Fallon, IL, and Melissa (William) Burk of O'Fallon, IL. He leaves behind eight grandchildren: Brandon Dachsteiner, Brittany Trione, Jacob Trione, Breeann (Connor) Reeves, Skylar Burk, Jenna Trione, Sydney Burk, and Caitlyn (Josh) Little; as well as two great-grandchildren, Carlin Little and Vivienne Reeves. Jack is also survived by his sister, Mary Ann Hall of Troy, IL.
A memorial visitation will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Friday, December 5, 2025, at Barry Wilson Funeral Home in Maryville, IL. A memorial service will follow at 6:00 p.m. Private burial will take place in St. John Cemetery in Collinsville, IL.
