Johnny "John" Wayne Whitwell, 70, of Maryville, IL, passed away on December 25, 2025, at Anderson Hospital in Maryville. He was born on August 20, 1955, in Doniphan, MO.

John spent his career as a semi-truck driver, a job that reflected his hardworking nature and love of the open road. Above all else, he cherished time with his family, especially his beloved grand dogs. Known for his infectious laugh, John enjoyed sharing a Coors Light with friends and never missed a chance to cheer on his St. Louis Cardinals.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Charlene (née Lindsey) Whitwell; his wife, Wanda (née Massander) Whitwell; and his sister, Paula Adams.

John is survived by his son, Jonathan "Jonny" (Blair) Whitwell; his daughter, Mandy Fenton; and three grandchildren, Jonathan, Michael, and Christopher.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2026 starting at 2 p.m. at the American Legion Post 365,1022 Vandalia St, Collinsville, IL 62234.
