Obituary

Jolene "Jo" Raye Cook, age 84, of Glen Carbon, IL, born February 6, 1938 in Cairo, IL, passed away on Monday, October 3, 2022 at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, IL.

Jo was a 1956 graduate of Collinsville High School. She later lived in Florissant Missouri for more than 50 years and was employed as a customer service representative in auto services.  Upon retirement, she volunteered her time and talents at Delmar Gardens North. She was a past member of First United Methodist Church in Collinsville, IL, and was an avid Kahok and college basketball fan, Mizzou fan, and St. Louis Cardinals fan.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Cecil and Maude (Blevins) Hancock; her husband, Dennis Cook, whom she married on June 16, 1957; her son, Tim Cook; a daughter, Sandy Jo Cook; and daughter-in-law, Kathy Cook.

She is survived by sons Jeff Cook of Hallsville, MO and Darren (Patti) Cook of Delray Beach, Fl; a grandson, Justin (Laura) Cook; and a great-grandson, Daxton.

Visitation will be held from 8 to 10 a.m. on Friday, October 14, 2022 at Barry Wilson Funeral Home in Maryville, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., immediately following the visitation, on Friday, October 14, 2022 at Barry Wilson Funeral Home, Maryville, IL, with Rev. Mike Barkley officiating. Burial will be at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, MO.

Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois and will be accepted at the visitation or may be mailed to Barry Wilson Funeral home, 2800 N. Center Street, Maryville, IL 62062.
