Joyce M. Meissner, age 89 of Glen Carbon, formerly of Collinsville, IL, born November 9, 1929 in Taylor, MI, passed away on Saturday, June 1, 2019 at Eden Village Care Center in Glen Carbon, IL.

Joyce was a homemaker and a teacher.  She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Collinsville and was a past pianist, organist, and choir director.  She was a true music lover.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Edna ( nee Tyre ) Bragenzer; a son-in-law, Christopher Lail; and a daughter-in-law, Kelly Meissner.

She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Clifford K. Meissner, whom she married October 14, 1950; four children:  Christine (David) Preisinger of Scotia, NY, Cheryl Lail of St. Peters, MO, Susan (Paul) Brandt of Rockford, IL, and James (Wendy) Meissner of Troy, MI; 13 grandchildren: Rachel (David) Olsen, Nathaniel (Amanda) Preisinger, Elisabeth Preisinger, Robert (Rachel) Lail, Emilie (Joshua) Phillips, Bethany and Timothy Brandt, Rebecca (William French) Brandt, Taylor, Nicole and Kayla Tralka, Aaron and Alex Meissner; seven great- grandchildren: Evelyn, Solomon, Miriam, Magnolia, Samuel, Pasithea and Amanita; two sisters:  Betty Reinbold of Reece, MI and Norma (John) Speckhard of St. Louis, MO; and a brother, Fred (Lise') Bragenzer, Jr. of Traverse City, MI

Visitation will be 3pm to 7pm on Sunday, June 9, 2019 at Barry Wilson Funeral Home, Maryville, IL and 10am to 11am on Monday, June 10, 2019 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Collinsville, IL.

Funeral service will be at 11am following the visitation at the church with Rev. Michael Walther, Rev. Scott Adle and Rev. Douglas Nicely officiating.  Burial will be at Michigan Memorial Park Cemetery in Flat Rock, MI.

Memorials may be made to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church or Lutheran Hour Ministries and will be received at the funeral home.
