Judy Kathleen (nee Mahoney) Carney, 77 of Madison, IL, born November 8, 1942 in St. Louis, MO, passed away on Tuesday, October 13, 2020 at Gateway Regional Hospital in Granite City, IL.

Judy was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Phillip Carney; her parents, Bernard John and Charlotte Thelma (nee Daniels) Mahoney; grandparents, Charles and Tessie (nee Strong) Daniels and James and Mabel (nee Cawvey) Mahoney; a sister and brother-in-law, Bernice Mabel and Anthony Joseph Fischer; a brother, Bernard Edward John Mahoney; a nephew, Richard Joseph Fischer; and step-daughter, Ruth Ann Carney.

She is survived by a sister, Nancy Jean Marie (William) Lappe of Collinsville, IL; two sisters-in-law, Fay Hamilton of Granite City, IL and Sandra Diane Mahoney of Lexington, NC; two step-children, Earl P. Fanning of Granite City, IL and Eddie Dean Carney of MS; nephews, Daniel (Diana) Fischer of Mishicot, WI, Thomas (Deb) Fischer of Coos Bay, OR, Andrew (Amy) Fischer of Litchfield, IL, Edward Lee Mahoney of Lexington, NC, William H. Lappe Jr. of Los Angeles, CA, Theodore A. Lappe of El Segundo, CA and Douglas P. Lappe of Yuma, AZ; nieces, Gwendolyn Fischer of Las Vegas, NV and Tina Michelle Hollar of Rockwell, NC; aunts, Leoria Denato of Moline, IL, Dorothea Jamieson of Moline, IL, Charlotte Frank of Phrophetstown, IL, Betty Welch of Geneseo, IL, Shirley Bonnett of Milan, IL and Linda Baccus of Moline, IL; an uncle, Charles Daniels of Hampton, IL; many great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 9 – 11 a.m. on Monday, October 19, 2020 at Barry Wilson Funeral Home, 2800 N. Center Street, Maryville, IL 62062.  Due to the current COVID restrictions, social distancing guidelines will be observed and face masks are required.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. following the visitation at the funeral home with Father John Beveridge officiating.  Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Collinsville, IL.

Memorials may be made in Judy's honor to SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church and will be received at the funeral home.
