Obituary

June Margaret Iberg (nee Arth) , age 87 of Collinsville, Illinois, passed on December 23rd, 2022 at  Anderson Hospital.  She was born on June 17, 1935 in Collinsville, Illinois to the late Martin J Arth III and Olive A. Arth (nee Mayer) .  Loving wife of Richard G Iberg, they were married on May 8, 1954 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Edwardsville, Illinois.  He survives.  Dear mother of Patti (Larry) Brown of Edwardsville, Diane (Bradford) Frye of Vandalia, Mary Doom of Marine and Craig (Michelle) Iberg of Sullivan.  Cherished grandmother of Stephanie Lucas, Michelle Lucas Witthaus, Robin Schutte Richert, Ryan Schutte, Bradley Iberg and Jessica Iberg.  Dearest great grandmother of Ian Wolf, Collin Wolf, Benjamin Richert and Logan Richert.  A brother, William (Judith Allard) Arth and sister-in-law, Marjorie Hess Iberg survive.  She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Mary Arth Varner and Audrey Arth Nolen; brothers-in-law, Harvey Nolen and Raymond Iberg; and sister-in-law Audrey Schaake Arth.

June graduated from Poag grade school in 1949 and Edwardsville High School in 1953 then worked as a telephone operator in Edwardsville.  She later moved to Endicott, New York to be with her husband before they settled in Caseyville, then Collinsville.  She sold real estate at Joe Foster Realty and worked at H&R Block doing tax preparation for seniors.  As a stay at home mom, she was a Brownie Leader, Girl Scout Leader, 4-H Leader, Cub Scout volunteer and room mother for many years.  She has been very active with Mother of Perpetual Help Church in Maryville in the Altar Society and other groups.

In 1961, Richard and June purchased the Sepmeyer home which was built in 1892.  On the property, the entire family was involved in building Wheel Ranch Mobile Home Park from the ground up.  They continued to live there until this year, when they moved to Meridian Village.

June loved her family, life and people; she never met a stranger and the hundreds of cards she sent annually brought smiles and encouragement to many.  She really loved traveling and meeting people from different cultures.  June and Richard visited 43 countries and all 50 states.  She was a fighter from life to death.

Visitation will be on Thursday, December 29, 2022, from 9am to 11:30am at Barry Wilson Funeral Home.

Funeral mass will be at 12 noon on Thursday at Mother of Perpetual Help Church with Father Rob Johnson celebrant.  Burial will be at Buck Road Cemetery in Maryville.

Memorials can be made to Mother of Perpetual Help Church or St. Jude Children's Hospital and will be received at the funeral home.
