Larry C. Shields, age 80 of Collinsville, IL, born August 30, 1938 in Crossville, IL, passed away on Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, IL.

Larry attained his Bachelor's degree.  He worked for State Farm for 35 years as a claims supervisor.  He was of the Lutheran faith, and a member of the Evening Collinsville Lions Club serving as a past secretary, treasurer, and president.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Charlene ( nee Cleveland) Shields; and a son, Jack Shields.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Linda ( nee Carmack) Shields, whom he married on November 9, 1961; a daughter, Terri (Keith) Garrett of Collinsville, IL; a son, John Scott (Phyllis) Shields of Collinsville, IL; a granddaughter, Nichole Merkel; and two great grandchildren:  Aaralynn and Jayson.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the caregivers at St. John Home Healthcare, especially Dorothy Wrigley and Tammy Ferris.

Upon his request, Larry was cremated and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Memorials may be made to the Collinsville Evening Lions Club, Alzheimer's Research, St. John Home Healthcare, or Unity Hospice. Donations may be mailed to the funeral home.
