Laura B. Shamhart, age 84, of Troy, IL, born August 19, 1934 in Newton, IL, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, IL.

Laura was a homemaker, a member of the Troy Christian Church, and a former volunteer at the Troy Senior Center. She loved dogs, baking, bowling, camping, and spending time with her family. She was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Hal Lee and Iva ( nee Short) Staley; five brothers: Lloyd, Chuck, Ronald, Paul, and Glen Staley; and a sister, Ruby Newlin.

She is survived by her husband, Lloyd D. Shamhart, whom she married March 3, 1957; a son, Brian (Jamie) Shamhart of Oak Park, IL; a daughter, Kim (Eric) Robinson of Chicago, IL; and two grandchildren, Emily Robinson and Cole Shamhart.

Services will be held both in Maryville, IL and Newton, IL.

Visitation will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. on Sunday, October 21, 2018 at Barry Wilson Funeral Home in Maryville, IL, followed by a funeral service at 3 p.m. at the funeral home and a lunch at 3:30 p.m. at Troy Christian Church.

Visitation will also be held from 11 to 11:30 a.m. on Monday, October 22, 2018, at Laura's childhood church, the Falmouth Christian Chapel in Newton, IL, followed by a funeral service at 11:30 a.m. officiated by Doug Staley, and a Noon luncheon at the church.

A graveside service and burial will be at the Bailey Cemetery in Wheeler, IL at 3 p.m.
