Lawrence Edward Elam, age 78, formerly of Collinsville and Troy, IL, born October 17, 1938 in Vandalia, IL, passed away at 5:45 p.m. on Saturday, October 22, 2016 at Meridian Village Care Center in Glen Carbon, IL.

Lawrence was a retired pipefitter and welder for Ameren. He was a member of Meadow Heights Baptist Church in Collinsville, IL, and was an Army and Air Force veteran.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edmund L. and Vonna nee Neathery Elam; and his wife, Linda Marlene nee Dothager Elam, whom he married October 16, 1965.

He is survived by two daughters: Michelle (Ken) Noll of Edwardsville, IL and Paula (Joey) Brewer of Troy, IL; seven grandchildren: Jordyn, Devon, and Lauryn Barr, Bayne, Gabriel, Jadyn, and Reece Noll; one great granddaughter, Brooklyn Barr; and a sister, Edith Elmore of Vandalia, IL.

Visitation will be from 5pm to 7pm on Monday, October 24,2016 at Barry Wilson Funeral Home, and from 9am to 11am on Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at Meadow Heights Baptist Church in Collinsville, IL.

Funeral service will be at 11am on Tuesday at the church with Rev. Roger Wright officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Liberty Cemetery in Mulberry Grove, IL.

Memorials may be made The Michael J. Fox Foundation and will be received during the visitation.
