Lela Anne Cook, 78, of Troy, IL, passed away on Thursday, July 16, 2026, at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, IL.

She was born on January 28, 1948, in Kingsville, TX, to the late Otto Carl Benhart Broderhausen and Lela Faye (Sharp) Broderhausen.

Lela married Kenneth "Ken" Cook on March 22, 1974. They shared many happy years together until his passing in 2021.

A 1966 graduate of Collinsville High School, Lela worked as a secretary in advertising for a public relations company during her career. She was a faithful member of Vaughn Hill Church of Christ in East Alton, IL.

Lela found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She loved quilting, reading, playing cards, and board games.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Carl Marion Broderhausen and Robert Thomas Broderhausen.

She is survived by two brothers, John (Anna) Broderhausen of Tyler, TX, and Horace (Donna) Broderhausen of Troy, IL; nieces and nephews.

A memorial visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 23, 2026, at Barry Wilson Funeral Home in Maryville, IL.

Interment will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, July 24, 2026, at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, where Lela will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband, Ken.
