Obituary

Leo J. Cook, Sr., age 79 of Maryville, IL, born February 8, 1943 in Springfield, MO, passed away on Tuesday, November 29, 2022.

Leo graduated from Madison Senior High School, Class of 1961.  He retired from American National Can in 1999 after 33+ years of service in quality control.  He was a lithographer and worked with a micrometer.  He had a great work ethic and always gave 100%.  He received many awards for his work achievements, going above and beyond work expectations. He took pride in all he did at work and at home.  He enjoyed home building and repair.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Orville J. and Vera L. (nee Pettit) Cook; a son, Kevin D. Cook; and a grandson, Dustin Cook.

Surviving are his loving wife of 60 years, Karen S. (nee Marsala) Cook, whom he married November 24, 1962; a son, Leo J. Cook, Jr. of Glen Carbon, IL; daughter-in-law, Michelle Cook; 11 grandchildren:  Natalie, Cherie, Kyle, Kasey, Zachary, Joshua, Amanda, Emily, Connor, Rayleigh and Bristol; 3 great-grandchildren:  Aiden, Dominic and Damien; and a sister, Verla F. Leach of Granite City, IL.

Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 12 noon on Monday, December 5, 2022 at Barry Wilson Funeral Home in Maryville.

Funeral service will follow at 12 noon with Rev. Josh Phillips officiating.  Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Granite City, IL.

Memorials are suggested to the William M. BeDell Achievement and Resource Center (ARC) and will be received at the visitation or can be mailed to Barry Wilson Funeral Home, 2800 N. Center Street, Maryville, IL 62062.
