Obituary

Leroy F. Adamove, age 75 of Fairmont City, IL, born July 5, 1949, in East St. Louis, IL, passed away on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, IL.

Leroy attained a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Southern Illinois University Carbondale. He retired from Terminal Railroad where he worked as a switchman. He was a past Fairmont volunteer fireman, enjoyed playing in the Fairmont City Bottle Cap Tournament every year, and reading the paper at the Fairmont Library. Leroy had many friends and never met a stranger. He ate lunch at Koke's Tavern almost every day. He was an avid fisherman and loved spending time at his place on Lake Egypt. He instilled the love of fishing in his dear friend, Christopher Garcia.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Erna (nee Schamberger) Adamove; his brother, John E. "Big Blue" Adamove; and an infant twin brother.

He is survived by a cousin, who was like a sister, Debbie (Randy) Jones of Troy, IL; other cousins, Tom (Karen) Schamberger and Larry (Carol) Tweston; and many dear friends.

Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. on Friday, March 21, 2025 at Barry Wilson Funeral Home in Maryville, IL.

Funeral service will follow at 11 a.m.  with Rev. Ron Habermehl officiating. Burial will be in St. Clair Memorial Park Cemetery in Fairview Heights, IL.

Memorials are suggested to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and Shriner's Hospital for Children. They will be received at the visitation or can be mailed to Barry Wilson Funeral Home, 2800 N. Center Street, Maryville, IL 62062.
