Lonnie D. Smith, 58, of Maryville, IL, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born April 30, 1968, in Highland, IL, to the late James and Sandra (née Meinz) Smith.

Lonnie dedicated 20 years of service to Stupp Corporation, where he worked as a data analyst before his retirement. Outside of his professional life, he was a certified Bob Ross painting instructor and found great joy in sharing his passion for art with others. He was also a devoted fan of the St. Louis Blues, proudly holding season tickets for 30 years.

Lonnie loved traveling and cherished every moment spent with his family, especially his grandson, as well as his many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Nancy (née Woods) Johnson.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Denise (née Johnson) Smith, whom he married on June 4, 1988; his son, Joshua Smith; and his grandson, Jackson Smith. He is also survived by two brothers, Shawn (Barb) Smith and David (Renee) Smith; two brothers-in-law, Derek (Aimee) Johnson and Denny Johnson, Jr.; a sister-in-law, Dena (Kevin) Hughes; nieces and nephews, Kate, Dustin, Abby, Cameron, Tyler, Jacob, Logan, Caroline, Destiny, Vivian, Mickey, and Zeva; and his father-in-law, Dennis (Linda) Johnson, Sr.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at Barry Wilson Funeral Home in Maryville, IL, with a funeral service to follow at 5:00 p.m.
