Louis "Louie" K. Halwachs, Jr., 70, of Maryville, IL, passed away on Monday, April 27, 2026, at Anderson Hospital in Maryville.

He was born on January 20, 1956, in East St. Louis, IL, to the late Louis K. Halwachs, Sr. and Elizabeth (née Barr) Halwachs. Louie was a proud graduate of Assumption High School in East St. Louis, Class of 1974.

Louie dedicated over 49 years of his life to his craft as a shoe repairman at London Shoe Shop in Collinsville, working alongside his beloved wife, Sherry. He took great pride in his work and genuinely enjoyed the relationships he built with his customers over the years.

In his free time, Louie found joy in fishing and hunting, hobbies that brought him peace and happiness.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Richard; his sister, Carla; and his brother-in-law, Chuck Cantillon.

He is survived by his loving wife, Sherry (née Allison) Halwachs, whom he married on May 7, 1984; and two sisters: Sue Cantillon and Mary (Dennis) Martinez.

In accordance with his wishes, Louie will be cremated and no public services will be held.
