Lucille Schneider Berendy, age 94 of Hilton Head Island, SC, formerly of Knoxville, TN, passed away on Tuesday, January 31, 2023 at Village Cove Assisted Living in Hilton Head Island.

She was born at home on June 27, 1928, near Lenzburg, IL to the late Herman and Johanna (nee Schrage) Schneider.    Lucille and her husband, Frank, were the former owner/operators of Mill Fabrics in Knoxville, TN.  Lucille was an avid gardener and loved to play bridge.  She was a member of First Lutheran Church of Knoxville for 57 years where she taught Sunday School and was on various committees. Most of all she loved being with her grandchildren and family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Louis Berendy, who passed away in 2003; two brothers, Richard and Ralph Schneider; and her son-in-law, B.A. "Duke" Baker.

She is survived by her daughter, Theresa Berendy Baker of Hilton Head Island, SC; three grandchildren:  Matthew S. (Brooke N.) Baker, Michael "Andy" Baker, and Christopher L. (Brooke S.) Baker; four great-grandchildren:  Cole, Reagan, Cooper and Cruz; numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 9 to 10 a.m. on Saturday, February 11, 2023 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Collinsville.

Funeral service will follow at 10 a.m. with Rev. Michael Walther officiating.  Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery in Glen Carbon, IL.
