Obituary

Marilyn J. Bonebrake, age 93 of Collinsville, IL, peacefully passed away on Sunday, August 4, 2024 at Addington Place in Collinsville surrounded by her loving family.

She was born July 9, 1931 in East St. Louis, IL to the late Harry Benyr and Mary Musso.  She graduated from Collinsville High School, Class of 1949. Marilyn married Francis Bonebrake on October 1, 1960 and he preceded her in death.

Marilyn retired from Collinsville Building and Loan at the age of 79 after 40 years of service as a secretary.  She was an avid bowler in the Wednesday Major Ladies League at Camelot Bowl. She loved word search puzzles, the St. Louis Cardinals, and spending time with her family. She faithfully attended First Baptist Church in Collinsville for over 60 years, served as the treasurer for her Sunday School class, and was a member of the Abigail Mission Circle.

She stayed in touch with a group of high school friends that met one Thursday evening a month, until they were well into their 80's. They started their "card" club playing cards but transitioned to getting together to talk about their families. The highlight of the year was finding out who your secret pal had been all year.

In addition to her parents and husband, Marilyn was also preceded in death by two brothers, Bob and Billy Benyr; infant daughter, Barbara Ann Wolfe; and a stepson Mark Bonebrake.

Surviving are her children:  Bobby (Linda) Wolfe, Mary (John) Lacopo, and stepson, Gary (Barbara) Bonebrake; stepdaughter-in-law, Lisa Bonebrake; 11 grandchildren:  Jonathan Bonebrake, Rachel (Steven) Nicoletti, Corie (Doug) Devall, Matt Wolfe, Christian Bonebrake, Amber (Ben) Hester, Dane (Annie) Bonebrake, Zachary (Miranda) Bonebrake, Alaina (Scott) Schlaefer, Lauren (Casey) Cerrato, and Jacob Lacopo; 20 great-grandchildren: Olive, Rosie and Glory Nicoletti, Grant (Reagan) Devall, Macey Devall, Bristol Isaac, Levi Bonebrake, Bella, Wyatt and Griffin Hester, Max, Rex, Beatrix, Ezra and Arlo Bonebrake, Payton, Camryn and Austin Schlaefer, Leo and Cy Cerrato; great-great grandson, Grayson Devall; a sister-in-law Bonnie (Bob) O'Brien; nieces and nephews.
