Marilyn J. (Thompson) Griggs, nee Holt, age 84, formerly of Caseyville, IL, of Fredericktown, MO, born March 24, 1931 in Doniphan, MO, passed away at 12:54 am on Thursday, March 3, 2016 at Mercy Hospital in Festus, MO.

Lyn worked many years for Emerson Electric as a Customer Service Representative. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, bowling, helping others, and a avid cardinals fan. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Riley and Marion nee Edmonds Holt; a daughter, Debra Vineyard; and a brother, B.J. Holt.

Lyn is survived by her husband, Willard Griggs; two sons, Don (Francesca) Thompson of Mt. Vernon, IA andRon (Lucy) Thompson of Collinsville, IL;a daughter, Tammie (Terry) Edwards of Collinsville, IL; 12 grandchildren;12 great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Fredda Holt, of Columbia, IL, and special nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 3pm to 7pm on Sunday, March 6, 2016 at Barry Wilson Funeral Home in Maryville, IL.

Funeral service will be held at 2pm Monday, March 7, 2016 at the funeral home with Rev. Ron Habermehl officiating. Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery, Collinsville, IL.

Memorials may be made to Cystic Fibrosis or the American Heart Association and can be received at the funeral home.
