Maureen "Maurie" Kaye Provence, age 71, of Maryville, IL, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO.

She was born on January 20, 1954, in East St. Louis, IL, to the late Marvin and Theresa (née Vallino) Schwartz.

Maurie was a proud 1972 graduate of Collinsville High School and went on to earn her bachelor's degree in education from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE) in 1976. She dedicated her career to shaping young minds as an elementary teacher in the Collinsville Unit 10 School District, retiring in 2013. She was a proud member of the Collinsville Education Association (CEA) and served as a building representative at Twin Echo Elementary School.

On June 28, 1975, Maurie married the love of her life, the late Myron Provence. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Roseanne Provence; and her cousins, Tony Vallino and Amy Joe Vallino.

Maurie is survived by her loving daughter, Roxanne Provence (Derek Bridges); her cherished grandchildren, Augustus and Cecilia Bridges; and cousins Jim (Debbie) Benzing, Charlie (Janet) Crowley, and Bob (Lisa) Vallino.

Maurie was an avid sports fan who especially loved cheering on the St. Louis Cardinals and watching football. A lifelong Beatles fan, she found joy in music, spending time in St. Louis, and being with her family.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 28, 2025, at Barry Wilson Funeral Home, 2800 N. Center Street, Maryville, IL. A funeral service will follow at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. Jim Benzing officiating. Burial will take place at a later date at Fairland Cemetery in Maryville.
