Michael "Mike" William Quain, age 74 of Collinsville, IL, passed away on Wednesday, November 30, 2022 at his residence.
Mike was born on January 27, 1948, in St. Louis, MO, to the late John Patrick and Suzanna (nee Gallina) Quain. He attained his B.S. in Business Administration from SIUE and worked in sales for twenty years at Nestlé and retired as manager of Oreck Home Care Center. He was a 3 rd and 4 th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, serving three terms as Grand Knight. Mike was a passionate St. Louis Cardinals Baseball fan and, in his youth, hurled the SIAC Juniors baseball team as the pitcher to two victories at Sportsman's Park (original Busch Stadium) and had a .535 batting average. He was a devoted husband, father, and Papa, a hopeless romantic, and frequent sender of flowers.
In addition to his parents, his was preceded in death by his first wife, Marilyn (nee Gronemeyer) Quain.
He is survived by his spouse, Joan (nee O'Connell) Barrett, whom he married August 11, 2001; six children: Jeff (Kim) Quain, Kelly Conner, Kate (Jason) Slocum, Colleen Barrett, Courtney (Jon Frank) John (Dongmei) Barrett; six grandchildren: Andrew, Bayley, Colin, Jane, McKenzie and Riley; one great-grandson, Mason; three brothers: Pat (Kathleen) Quain, Tim (Jim Goins) Quain, and Jim (Sandy) Quain; two sisters: Blanche LaMotte and Kathy Doerries; numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 9 – 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 3, 2022, at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 207 Vandalia, Collinsville, IL.
Funeral Mass will follow at 11 a.m. with Father John Beveridge celebrant. Burial will be in St. John Lutheran Cemetery, Maryville, IL with a luncheon after at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church.
Memorials are suggested to SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church or the Alzheimer's Association and will be received at the visitation or can be mailed to Barry Wilson Funeral Home, 2800 N. Center Street, Maryville, IL 62062.
