Michael Robert Scharnhorst, age 55, of Collinsville, IL, born June 13, 1962 in St. Charles, MO, passed away on October 12, 2017 at his residence.

Michael was a retail department store manager for approximately 30 years. He was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Collinsville, loved coaching his daughters and watching them in sports, loved to golf, BBQ, and was a big Mizzou fan.

He is survived by his parents, Robert Leon and Judith Ann (nee Hollenberg) Scharnhorst of St. Charles, MO; two daughters: Maggie (fianc, Taylor Anschutz) Scharnhorst of Litchfield, IL, and Molly (Zachary) Ackerman of Brentwood, MO; his former wife, Staci (nee Dellamano) Scharnhorst of Collinsville; two sisters: Christine (Charles) Mueller of Wentzville, MO, and Julie (Gregory) Kiwus of Powder Springs, GA; numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, October 15, 2017 at Barry Wilson Funeral Home, 2800 N. Center Street, Maryville, IL.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Monday, October 16, 2017 at Barry Wilson Funeral Home, with Rev. Kyle Wright officiating. Burial will be held at Holy Cross Lutheran Cemetery at 4 p.m. on Monday.

Memorials may be made to Metro-East Lutheran High School Athletic Program and will be accepted at the funeral home.
