Obituary

Myrna M. Schneider, age 90 of Collinsville, IL, born November 5, 1934, in Baldwin, IL, passed away on Monday, June 2, 2025, at Meridian Village Care Center with her family by her side.

Myrna was the former co-owner with her husband, Ralph, of Cards Plus in Collinsville and Edwardsville, IL. A devoted homemaker, Myrna poured her heart into caring for her family and creating a loving home. An avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and season ticket holder, she enjoyed traveling to Spring Training with Ralph and going to different cities to watch the Cardinals play. She was a long-time member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. Actively involved in the Lutheran Women's Missionary League, she found purpose and joy in service, fellowship, and sharing the love of Christ with others. Her kindness, quiet strength, witty sarcasm and unwavering devotion to her family and faith will be remembered always.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Ralph L. Schneider, whom she married January 18, 1958; parents: William G. and Ella (nee Eckert) Hammel; parents: Clarence and Ella Voss; brother: Riley Voss and daughter-in-law, Pamela Schneider.

She is survived by a son, Michael Schneider of Collinsville, IL; daughter, Gail (Bob) Mayhew of Maryville, IL; eight grandchildren: Brandon (Alyssa Reinhardt) Schneider, Mandie (Dustin) Ernst, Jacob (Rebecca) Schneider, Justin (Patrese) Schneider, Chelsea (Sam) Ross, Jordan (Blake) Novack, Brooke (Dominic) Zavaglia, and Caleb (Gabby Suria) Mayhew; 16 great-grandchildren; one brother: Alan Hammel of Sparta, IL;  a sister, Shirley Kaestner of St. Louis, MO; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday, June 8, 2025, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 1300 Belt Line Road, Collinsville, IL, and 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Monday, June 9, 2025.

Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. following the visitation on Monday with Rev. Andrew Gray officiating.

Burial will follow at Sunset Hill Cemetery in Glen Carbon, IL.

Memorials are suggested to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church or School and will be received at the visitation, or may be mailed to Barry Wilson Funeral Home, 2800 North Center Street, Maryville, IL 62062.
