Norma M. Scheiter

Norma M. Scheiter, age 98, of Maryville, Il, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 17, 2026 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO.

Norma was born November 15, 1927 in White City, IL to Jacob Ramseier and Emma (nee Ahlswede) Franke. She was employed by Southwestern Bell for a number of years, but the role she most enjoyed was being a homemaker and spending time with her family. She was a long-time member of St. John Lutheran Church in Maryville and was a devoted St. Louis Cardinals and Blues fan.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Larvin Frank Scheiter, whom she married on October 27, 1951; a sister, Evelyn (Edward “Butch”) Mlekush; a son-in-law, Thomas Brown; and a brother-in-law, James Yancik.

She is survived by a daughter, Renee Brown of Edwardsville, IL; a son, Jeff (Hilda) Scheiter of Collinsville, IL; a daughter, Marsha (Paul) Reiniger of Collinsville, IL; 8 grandchildren: Todd (Amanda) Brown of Edwardsville; Tyler (Lindsay) Brown of Edwardsville; Brett Scheiter of St. Louis, MO; Heather (Richard) Hayden of Collinsville; Jake (Sammy Ewing) Scheiter of Collinsville; Julia (Logan Killen) Scheiter of Chicago, IL; Christopher Reiniger of Collinsville; and Katelyn Reiniger of Collinsville; and 4 great grandchildren: Grayson, Hadley, Tripp, and Vail; and a sister, Dorothy Yancik of Benton, IL; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday, September 21, 2026 and from 10 to 11 a.m. on Tuesday, September 22, 2026 at Barry Wilson Funeral Home in Maryville, IL.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, September 22, immediately following the visitation, at Barry Wilson Funeral Home, with Rev. Willard Meyer, officiating.

A private burial will be held and she will rest next to her husband, Larvin, at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Mt. Olive, IL.

Memorial donations are suggested to the Polycystic Kidney Disease Foundation, the American Heart Association, or Partners for Pets and will be accepted at the visitation or may be mailed to Barry Wilson Funeral Home, 2800 N. Center Street, Maryville, IL 62062.
