Paul Eugene Zellner, 79, of Collinsville, IL, born February 10, 1944, in East Orange, NJ, peacefully passed away Monday, November 13, 2023, at his residence after a courageous battle with lung cancer and COPD.
Paul honorably served in the United States Navy from 1962 to 1966. He spent the majority of his professional career working in brokerage/trust operations and retired after 50 years in the industry. He also was a retired bus driver with Triad Unit 2.
He enjoyed traveling to New Jersey to spend time with his family and grandchildren. He also enjoyed spending time with his friends and having a Bud Light. He was an avid St. Louis Blues and New Jersey Devils hockey fan, as well as a New York Giants football fan.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Paul Zellner and Coral (nee Lalor) Waddell; his second wife, Michele Zellner; father-in-law, Paul Timmermann; stepfather, Foster Waddell; and sister-in-law, Anita Langhauser.
Surviving are his wife, Carol A. (nee Timmermann) Zellner, whom he married June 13, 1998; son, Paul Zellner III; two daughters, Jeanne (Vinnie) Soccodato and Nancy (Louis) Romeo; five grandchildren, Mallory Soccodato, Haley (Ken) Simonsen, Samantha Soccodato, Griffin Soccodato, and Louis Romeo; two brothers, William (Darlene) Zellner and James Zellner; sister, Susan Hogan; mother-in-law, Juliana Timmermann; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Harold Timmermann, Sandy (Joe) Todoroff, Ann (Al) Ortiz, and James Timmermann; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends may visit from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 21, 2023, at Barry Wilson Funeral Home, Maryville, IL. Funeral service will follow at 11 a.m.
Burial with military honors will take place at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and will be received at the visitation or can be mailed to Barry Wilson Funeral Home, 2800 N. Center Street, Maryville, IL 62062.
