Peggy Jo (Graham) Dickey, age 72, of Edwardsville, IL, born November 7, 1950 in Terre Haute, IN, and passed away on August 13, 2023, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, St. Louis, MO. She married Keith Winfield Dickey on January 25, 1975, in Greencastle, IN.
Peggy graduated from Indiana State University and began her career in journalism as Editor of the Culver Citizen, Culver, Indiana. Later, she was employed as Mishawaka Section Editor of the South Bend Tribune, copy editor of the Bloomington (IL) Pantagraph, copy center director for Illinois Central College, copy editor of the St. Louis Globe-Democrat and St. Louis Sun, secretary for Admissions Office and School of Nursing, Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville, editorial assistant for the Journal of OB/GYN at C.V. Mosby Publishing Co., and administrative assistant to Xi Psi Phi International Dental Fraternity Supreme Chapter for over twenty years. She was awarded Honorary Life membership in Xi Psi Phi Fraternity in 2003, and in 2008 she served as President of the Alliance of the Illinois State Dental Society.
Peggy was a devoted wife, caring sister and loving aunt. What people remember most about Peggy was her kind and gentle nature. To her family, she was known as a "famous cook/gourmet chef" and she hosted many holiday gatherings in her home. Her family and friends will miss her tremendously.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard Eugene and Marjorie Mae (York) Graham; two brothers-in-law, Joseph M. Dickey, and Denny Green, a sister-in-law, Barbara (Dickey) Gilbert, and two nephews, Jeffrey S. Green and John R. Gilbert.
She is survived by her husband, Keith W. Dickey, two sisters, Judy A. Green, West Terre Haute, IN and Dixie L. Whitney, Fate, TX, brother-in law, Stephen F. (Marsha S.) Dickey, Tampa, FL, two nieces, G. Brooke (Michael) Zilinskas, Rockwall, TX, Susi G. Swinehart, Warsaw, IN, four nephews, Denver Green, Dominican Republic, Thomas M. (Amy) Gilbert, Fort Wayne, IN, S. Christopher (Crissy) Dickey, Garden City, NY, Jason T. (Stacie) Dickey, Tampa, FL, and many great nieces and great nephews.
A Remembrance Visitation/Service will be held on Saturday, September 30, 2023, from 1:30 – 4:00 pm at the Barry Wilson Funeral Home, Maryville, IL.
