Obituary

Phillip R. Hinds, 80, of Collinsville, IL, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, February 18, 2026.

Phillip was born October 15, 1945, in St. Louis, MO, to the late Roscoe Hinds and Thelma (nee Clark) Hinds. He graduated from McCluer High School in St. Louis and went on to proudly serve his country in the United States Army.

Following his military service, Phillip continued his education at Belleville Area College before transferring to Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, where he earned a Bachelor's degree in Industrial Relations. Always valuing education and self-improvement, Phillip later returned to school at St. Louis Community College, earning an Associate's degree in Paralegal Studies.

On December 28, 1968, Phillip married Marilyn Gricius. She survives.

Phillip was a hardworking and entrepreneurial man who owned and operated Royal Showing Automotive. A passionate car restoration enthusiast, he was a member of several car clubs and took great pride in his work and craftsmanship. In addition to his love of automobiles, Phillip enjoyed collecting antiques and traveling, always eager to explore and learn something new.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Nita Winscott and Betty Ludwig.

Phillip is survived by his wife, Marilyn Hinds; his two sons, Evan (Melissa Gustafson) Hinds and Shane (Ali Meyer) Hinds; and his cherished granddaughter, Evelyn Rose Hinds.

Phillip's wishes were to be cremated, and no public services will be held at this time. He will be laid to rest at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery with full military honors at a later date.
