Obituary

Phillip Douglas Wittke, age 75 of Maryville, IL, born on August 20, 1949, in St. Louis, MO, passed away on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, IL.

A proud graduate of McCluer High School and State Technical College of Missouri, he served for six years in the Missouri Air National Guard and built a career as a dedicated automotive parts manager, known for his knowledge and commitment to the trade. Outside of work, he had a passion for photography and woodworking, was a skilled auto mechanic, and found joy in the outdoors through hiking and canoeing. His love for dogs was ever-present, and they were constant companions throughout his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Charles and Lois (nee Keppler) Wittke; brother, Charles Wittke, Jr.; and sister, Christine Striker.

He is survived by his loving wife, Sharon Lee (nee Barlow) Wittke, whom he married April 15, 1994; two sons: Brian Wittke, and Shawn Wittke; two daughters: Melissa Bridges, and Lisa Wittke; four grandchildren: Aaron Wittke, Whitney Smith, Alexis Wittke, Tabatha Sales; eight great-grandchildren: Prestyn, Bella, Ellie, and Hadley Wittke, Carson and Isabella Smith, Jamien and Alexander Sales; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place and no services are scheduled at this time.
