Portia Jean Bailey, age 81 of Maryville, IL, passed away on Saturday, May 27, 2023 at Christian Hospital Northeast in St. Louis, MO.

She was born March 25, 1942 in Redfield, AR to the late Ralph and Reva (nee Pike) Blevins.  She married Herschel "Bud" Bailey on October 16, 1993 and he survives.

Portia worked for the federal government in the U.S. Army Division as an administrator for 27 years.  She was a member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church in Maryville and enjoyed cooking.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters:  Pearl Kynion and Marla Duda; and three brothers:  Rodney, Thomas and Gilbert Blevins.

Surviving are her husband, Herschel "Bud" Bailey; five children:  Leesa (Larry) Montgomery of Millstadt, IL, Christina Bailey of Seattle, WA, Greg (Kimberly) Bailey of Fenton, MO, Julie (Tim) Griffin of Kerens, TX, and Emilee Schnefke of Staunton, IL; 10 grandchildren:  Cameron, Boston, Jackson, Sam, Jake, Morgan (Rhett), Zach, Paige (Anthony), Megan (Nathan) and Justin; five great-grandchildren:  Mariah, Nash, Brooklyn, Tyson and Forrest; and one great-great-grandchild, Remi.

Visitation will be 4- 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 1, 2023 at Barry Wilson Funeral Home in Maryville, IL.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 2, 2023 at the funeral home with Rev. Robin Lyons officiating.  Private burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery, Glen Carbon, IL at a later date.
