Rachel Lynn Cato, age 52 of Collinsville, IL, born November 8, 1970 in Belleville, IL, passed away on Thursday, September 28, 2023 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO.  Hospitalized just three weeks prior due to Stage 4 colon cancer, Rachel didn't even have a chance to fight since it had already spread to her liver and lymph nodes.

Rachel grew up in Collinsville, the youngest of three girls and graduated from Collinsville High School in 1989.  A lover of animals, Rachel would often bring home stray dogs and cats but one of her biggest loves and companions was her dog, Daisy.  On March 22, 2002, Rachel met her greatest love; a beautiful, blonde little girl, Emily Lynn, was born.  Rachel spent many years as a receptionist at Laura Buick, working alongside her father, Charles "Bob" Tottleben.  Later in life she became a homemaker.  Her time was spent watching movies and visiting with her friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Tottleben and Shelby (nee Douthit) Tottleben, and Frank Smiley.

She is survived by her daughter, Emily Cato of Kelowna, Canada; two sisters: Kim (Kenny) Behrman of Caseyville, IL and Michaele Frazer of Milton, FL; nephew, Eric (Kelly) Frazer of O'Fallon, MO; and niece, Nicole (Tom) Lewis of Milton, FL; best friend, Dan Kerwin of Collinsville, IL; and many friends.

Visitation will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, October 7, 2023 at Barry Wilson Funeral Home in Maryville, IL.  A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, October 9, 2023 at Lakeview Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Fairview Heights, IL.
