Ralph L. Schneider, age 86 of Collinsville, Il, born October 26, 1932 in Lenzburg, IL, passed away Wednesday, January 30, 2019 at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, IL.
Ralph was the former owner/operator of Cards Plus in Collinsville, IL. After retirement, he was the owner of Mid States Auto Body & Supply in Maryville, IL. In earlier years he worked as the manager for Tri City Grocery, district manager of National food stores, and district manager of Archery Cookies. He was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Collinsville, serving on many boards and instrumental in the leadership of the church. He was a past member of the Collinsville Sunrise Kiwanis, and board member of the Collinsville Chamber of Commerce.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Johana ( nee Schrage) Schneider; a brother, Richard Schneider; sister-in-law, Mae Schneider; brother-in-law, Frank Berendy; and daughter-in-law, Pamela Schneider.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Myrna ( nee Hammel) Schneider; a son, Michael Schneider of Collinsville, IL; a daughter, Gail (Bob) Mayhew of Maryville, IL; eight grandchildren: Brandon (Caroline) Schneider, Mandie (Dustin) Ernst, Jacob Schneider, Justin (Patrese) Schneider, Chelsea (Sam) Ross, Jordan Schneider, Brooke Mayhew and Caleb Mayhew; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Lucille Berendy of Hilton Head Island, SC; brothers-in-law: Alan Hammel of Sparta, IL and Riley Voss of St. Louis, MO; sister-in-law, Shirley (Fred) Kaestner of St. Louis, MO; numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, February 1, 2019 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 1300 Beltline, Collinsville, IL and 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 2, 2019.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. following the visitation with Rev. Michael Walther and Rev. Scott Adle officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery, Glen Carbon, IL.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church or School and will be received at the visitation or can be mailed to the funeral home.
