Randall "Randy" William Van Gilder, age 67, of Lafayette, LA, formerly of Granite City, IL, born November 1, 1956 in Granite City, IL, passed away peacefully at his residence in Lafayette on Thursday, November 9, 2023.

Randy was a retired employee of the Granite City Park District where he worked as a landscaper for 37 years. He loved fishing, watching old movies and spending time with his grandkids. He was a dedicated son, brother, husband, father, and grandfather.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul William and Betty (Arnold) Van Gilder.

He is survived by his wife, Melea (Hoffman) VanGilder whom he married on June 24, 1988; a daughter, Rachel (Justin) Martin of Carencro, LA; two grandchildren: Hannah and Taylor; and a sister, Janice (Jeff) Baiter of Little Elm, TX.

A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, November 20, 2023 at Sunset Hill Cemetery, Glen Carbon, IL.
