Rita Ellen Potter (nee Fitzpatrick) was born January 10, 1939 in Hillsdale, NJ to the late John and Edith (nee Welch) Fitzpatrick.  She passed away at her home with her daughters by her side on Thursday, November 10, 2022.

Rita graduated from Pascack Valley High School, Hillsdale, NJ in 1958.  After graduation she worked as an assistant buyer at Bonwilt Teller Department Store, in New York City.  She married Gerald Potter on September 19, 1964.  Rita was a proud homemaker and loving mother to her four daughters.  She was a member of SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church.  She enjoyed spending time with friends attending luncheons, prayer groups and the Red Hat Society.  She had many friends, who lovingly referred to her as the Queen.  She will be remembered by many for her witty personality.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Potter, who passed away on May 30, 1996; brother, Jack Fitzpatrick; and sister, Mary Parris.

She is survived by her daughters, Karen (Chuck) Theodor of Collinsville, IL, Kathleen Potter of Collinsville, IL, Kim (Joe) Feldhaus of Collinsville, IL, and Krista (Keith) Stallings of Mansfield, TX; grandchildren: Thomas (Madison) Theodor, Kayla (Josh) Stallings, Austin Theodor, Hayley (Tyler) Potter, Kolten (Asoni) Stallings, Joey Feldhaus and Noah Feldhaus; great grandchild, Lucy Theodor; sisters, Joan Ninivaggi of Bethel, CT and Ronnie Kaufman of Jupiter FL; many nieces and nephews.

Memorial visitation will be 11 a.m. to 12 noon on Thursday, November 17, 2022 at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Collinsville.

Memorial mass will follow at 12 noon with Father John Beveridge celebrant.  Private burial will be at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery next to her husband, Gerald.
