Robert William Burg, age 93, of Maryville, IL, born April 5, 1929 in Dayton, OH, passed away on Friday, September 30, 2022 at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, IL.

Robert was the owner-operator of Cullop-Jennings Florist in Collinsville, IL for 32 years, from 1960 to 1992. He was a Navy Veteran, a member of VFW Post 5691 in Collinsville and the Coast Guard Auxiliary. He was a member of SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Collinsville, the Collinsville Rotary Club where he received the Paul Harris Award, and a long-time member of Purple Pride. In earlier years, Bob and his wife, Pat, also taught roller skating at the Moonlight Roller Rink in Troy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis J. and Clara (Hartman) Burg; and his wife, Patricia (Welle) Burg whom he married on January 12, 1952.

He is survived by three sons: Bill (Bobbi) Burg of Maryville, IL; Tom (Dawn) Burg of St. Jacob, IL, and David (Maggi) Burg of Douglasville, GA; a daughter, Lynda (Barry) Burns of Maryville, IL; 8 grandchildren: Michelle (Josh) Burgess, Christy (Mike) Carter, Stacy (Chris) Mattingly, Zachary (April) Burg, Alixanna (Ethan Walker) Burg, Amber Burns, Abbey Burns, and Nicholas Burg; 11 great-grandchildren:  Kyle, Jacob, Ben, Brie, Bella, Brooke, Cruz, Luca, Landon, Adeline & Amelia; a sister, Carol May of Edwardsville, IL; numerous nieces and nephews

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, October 5, 2022 at Barry Wilson Funeral Home in Maryville, IL, and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 6, 2022 at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Collinsville, IL.

A funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 6, 2022, immediately following visitation, at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church, with Father John Beveridge, Celebrant. Burial with military honors will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery, in Glen Carbon, IL.

Memorials may be made to SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and will be accepted at the visitation or may be mailed to Barry Wilson Funeral Home, 2800 N Center Street, Maryville IL 62062.
