Robert “Bob” Wayne Cook, 78, of Collinsville, IL, passed away at his home on Saturday, October 3, 2026.
Bob was born on October 3, 1948, in St. Louis, MO, to the late Billie J. Cook and Lillian Juanita (nee Masters) James. He retired from Sunnen Products in Maplewood, MO, after more than 30 years of dedicated service as an industrial painter.
Bob had a lifelong passion for cars, especially his beloved 1967 Oldsmobile Cutlass 4-4-2, affectionately known as “Cream Puff.” He enjoyed taking his car to cruises and sharing his passion with fellow car enthusiasts and friends. The friendships and camaraderie he found among his “car guys” brought him great joy.
Above all, Bob loved his family and his pets, Winston, Scout, Pandora, and Nomad. His family was the center of his life, and he will be remembered for the love, friendship, and memories he shared with those closest to him.
In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his son, Kevin Cook.
He is survived by his loving wife, Anne (nee Cottingham) Cook, whom he married on May 25, 2001; two sons, Daniel (Ana) Schorfheide of Dallas, TX, and Jared Cook of Collinsville, IL; daughter, Melissa (Jill) Frieden of Granite City, IL; son-in-law, Chris Kamacho of Granite City, IL; four grandchildren, Tyler Kamacho, Joey Kamacho, Tanner Cook, and Zoey Geary; great-grandson, Kevin Geary; two sisters, Diana Bolanos and Vicki Gooden; nephew, Jeff Cook; and mother-in-law, Grace Cottingham of Troy, IL.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, at Barry Wilson Funeral Home, 2800 N. Center Street, Maryville, IL. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m., officiated by Rev. Jeff Cottingham. Burial with military honors will follow at 12:30 p.m. at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, MO. The family asks everyone to wear casual attire.
