Robert Earl Dellamano, age 96 of Collinsville, IL, born September 20, 1927 in Collinsville, peacefully passed away on Sunday, September 8, 2024 surrounded by his family.
Robert graduated as valedictorian from his elementary school, Holy Cross Lutheran School, as well as Collinsville High School, Class of 1945 where he was also the recipient of the American Legion Award. He honorably served in the United States Army and worked as a trouble shooter for Illinois Power. He was a lifetime member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, enjoyed gardening, traveling with his wife, Virginia, and spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia (nee Durham) Dellamano, whom he married October 18, 1952; his parents, Tobias and Clara (nee Schuricht) Dellamano; stepfather, Howard Grafe; five brothers: Ed Grafe, Ralph Grape, Art Dellamano, Delbert Dellamano and Toby Dellamano, three sisters: Pat Fedder, Dolores Eigenbrodt, and Charlotte Litton; and a great-granddaughter, Clara Dellamano.
Surviving are his three children: James (Kimbra) Dellamano, Thomas E. (Pam) Dellamano and Nancy (Dale) Brakenhoff; 11 grandchildren: Thomas R. Dellamano, Erica (James) Chilvers, Andrew (Krissy) Dellamano, Nicholas (A.J.) Dellamano, Devin (McKenzie) Brakenhoff, Jennifer (Alex) Evans, Austin Dellamano, Hope (Jacob) Moore, Anna Dellamano, Bryce (McKenna) Dellamano, and Brianne Dellamano; 11 great-grandchildren: Gavin Dellamano, Mia Dellamano, Charlie Dellamano, Joe Dellamano, Sadie Brakenhoff, Aurora Chilvers, Embry Dellamano, Addison Brakenhoff, Arthur Moore, Ada Moore and Grace Evans; a sister, Clara Orgam; a sister-in-law, Jean Dellamano; numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 9 to 11 a.m. on Thursday, September 12, 2024 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 304 South Street, Collinsville, IL.
Funeral service will follow at 11a.m. officiated by Rev. Kyle Wright. Burial with military honors will be in Holy Cross Lutheran Cemetery, Collinsville.
Memorials are suggested to Holy Cross Lutheran Church or Hospice of Southern Illinois and will be received at the visitation or can be mailed to Barry Wilson Funeral Home, 2800 N. Center Street, Maryville, IL 62062.
