Robert S. Lucas, age 92 of Collinsville, IL, born April 14, 1929 in Coulterville, IL, passed away on Wednesday, November 10, 2021 at his residence with his wife of 65 years, June, by his side.

Robert retired after 35 years of service with Ameren-Illinois Power.  He graduated Sparta High School where he exceled in football, basketball and track.  He was known for his quick wit and he was a long time patron of Fairmont Park Racetrack since 1953.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Stanley and Genevieve (nee Skinner) Lucas; a son, Steve Lucas; and a brother, Ronald Lucas.

He is survived by his wife, Wanda June (nee McChristian) Lucas, whom he married June 2, 1956; a daughter, Kay (Curt) Everding of Red Bud, IL; a step-son, Dwayne (Sandy) McCabe of Hillsboro, MO; three granddaughters:  Jenny (Ron) Schweizer, Becky (Shane) Alberson and Jackie (Nick) Quintin; two step-granddaughters ; 14 great-grandchildren; 5 step-grandchildren; and 6 great-great grandchildren.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to good friends, John Piker of Troy, IL and Laura (Rob) Lutes of Collinsville, IL for the kindness and thoughtfulness during his three year illness.

Upon his request Robert was cremated and his burial will be at a later date in Coulterville Cemetery with his wife, June.
