Robert Lewis Price, age 88 of Collinsville, IL, born February 17, 1932 in Zanesville, OH, passed away on Wednesday, December 30, 2020.
Robert was a 1950 Collinsville High School graduate. He served his country in the United States Marine Corp as a staff sergeant during the Korean War. He worked at Granite City Steel from 1958 – 1972. During this time, he graduated in 1965 from SIU-E with a BA in Business, majoring in Personnel Management, as a member of the first graduating class. In 1972, he acquired and operated Midtown Liquor in Collinsville until 1986. In 1987, he attained his realtor/broker license, finishing with ReMax Alliance in Glen Carbon.
Robert was a member of the Collinsville Rotary Club for many years. When his kids were younger, he enjoyed watching them play sports. This continued with the grandkids. Grandpa would be there to watch and cheer them on. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, who will be dearly missed.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Roberta Lee (nee Seago) Price, whom he married on May 9, 1958; a daughter, Kathy Donna; parents, Lewis and Mary (nee Bone) Price; a sister and her husband, Betty (Red) Altom; and a brother, Jim "Wally" Price.
Surviving are his children: Karen Price of Maryville, IL, Ann (Brian) Gifford of Edwardsville, IL and Linda (Tony) Nunn of Clearwater Beach, FL; son-in-law, Brad Donna of Anna, IL; 8 grandchildren: Leslie (Patrick) Green, Ashley (Patrick) Marvin, Brittany (Paul) Warren, Caitlin Boatman, Brian Gifford, Blake (fiancé Sara Bonham) Gifford, Joshua (Laura) Nunn and Alex Nunn; 7 great-grandchildren: Josephine, Lewyn, Bennett, Magnolia, Elijah, Maxwell and Connor; two sisters: Dodey (Jess) Horstman of St. Louis, MO and Sharon (David) Deatherage of Atoka, TN; a brother, Tom (Jeanne) Price of Edwardsville, IL; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Private services will be held on Saturday, January 2, 2021 at Barry Wilson Funeral Home, Maryville, IL. Friends may procession with the family to St. John Cemetery in Collinsville. Meet at the funeral home north side parking lot at 11:45 a.m. Masks are required to be worn.
Memorials may be made in Robert's honor to Collinsville Habitat for Humanity and will be received at the funeral home.
