Roberta B. Blackford, age 90 of Maryville, IL, born May 20, 1928 in St. Louis, MO passed away on Wednesday, May 8, 2019, at Liberty Village in Maryville, IL.

Roberta was a retired nursing home cook. She was a member of St. Matthew United Methodist Church in Belleville, IL, and enjoyed embroidery and gardening.  She treasured her family and embraced every moment with them.  She will be deeply missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Sr. and Alberta ( nee Kinkade ) Backues; her husband, Warren M. Blackford; a son, Robert W. Blackford, Sr.; two daughters:  Donna May and Linda Winkelman; a granddaughter, Aron Ponder; a grandson, Robert W. Blackford, Jr.; a great granddaughter, Kylie Ponder; two brothers:  Charles Backues, Jr. and Lee Backues; and special friend, Al Miller.

She is survived by her a sister, Brenda Fann of De Soto, MO; a daughter-in-law, Kathy Blackford of Maryville, IL; four grandchildren:  Sherry Kopp, James Winkelman, Cindy Hill and James May, Jr.; nine great grandchildren:  Heather, Kaylee and Rylen Huston, Trey Klette, Devon, Logan and Parker Hill, Nicholas Winkelman, and Mason Ponder.

Private graveside services will be held at Valhalla Cemetery in Belleville, IL.
