Obituary

Roger Lee Romanik, age 80 of Maryville, IL, born May 21, 1940 in East St. Louis, IL, passed away on Saturday, September 12, 2020 at his residence surrounded by family.

Roger was a retired Assistant to the Works Controller for American Steel Foundries.  He was a graduate of Assumption High School in East St. Louis, and an Air Force Veteran having proudly served in North Africa and on the Island of Crete.  He was a member of Mother of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Maryville, and a decades-long member of the Knights of Columbus #6625. He was an avid bowler at Camelot Bowl in Collinsville and enjoyed spending summers at Carlyle Lake with his family.  As many know, Roger loved golf even if it didn't always love him. His love for golf reached it's pinnacle when he & Tony attended The 2019 Masters Golf Tournament in Augusta, GA.  He and his latter in life partner, Judy, loved spending winters in Florida, both working at Roger Dean Stadium during St. Louis Cardinals Spring Training.  He cherished the times spent with his family and grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony Joseph and Mary Edith nee McWilliams Romanik; and his wife, Patsy Marie nee Gammon Romanik.

Surviving are his five children and seven grandchildren, Anthony (Shelley) Romanik; Rhett, Ryan, Sean Romanik, Tammy Darshana Lichtenberg (Bob Hsieh); Agnes & Adrienne Hsieh, Deborah Purcell; Tom & Tim Purcell, Donald Romanik and Dennis Romanik; numerous beloved cousins; his dear partner, Judy Askew, and her family.
