Rosemarie T. Archangel, age 93 of Glen Carbon, IL, formerly Maryville, IL, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, March 19, 2024 at her residence.

She was born November 3, 1930 in St. Louis, MO, the only child to the late John and Louise (nee Bechtold) Archangel.  She attained her undergraduate degree from Fontbonne University in St. Louis and her Master's and PhD from the University of Iowa.  In 1961 she began teaching at Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville later becoming the Dean of the Graduate School.  She also helped start the ladies athletics at SIUE and was one of 12 individuals chosen to go to Washington, D.C. to write and pass the Civil Rights Title 9 for Women's Athletics.  Rosemarie was inducted into both Fontbonne University and SIUE Athletic Hall of Fame.  She loved traveling with her lifelong friend, Ellen.

Memorial visitation will be 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Monday, March 25, 2024 at Barry Wilson Funeral Home in Maryville, IL.

Memorial mass will be at 1 p.m. on Monday at Mother of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 200 N. Lange, Maryville, IL with Father Rob Johnson celebrant.  Inurnment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Glen Carbon, IL.
