Roy Lane Jenkins, age 80 of Glen Carbon, IL, passed away on Wednesday, March 20, 2024 at St. Mary's Hospital in St. Louis, MO.

He was born September 5, 1943 in St. Louis, MO, the first born of the late Hubert & Edith (nee Matlock) Jenkins.  He grew up in Madison, IL but spent the last 65 years as a life long resident of Glen Carbon on Green Acres Road.

Roy graduated from Edwardsville High School in 1961 and spent many years as an accomplished draftsman for Killark Electric, Rawlings Sporting Goods, and Emerson Electric. He was an avid reader from an early age with an amazing recall especially with anything automotive related.

Roy developed a keen interest in photography for many years and could always be seen documenting virtually every family event as well as vacation trips. He was a member of the Collinsville Camera Club for many years. His love for photography only went one direction though as he always avoided being photographed himself. His life long love of the baseball Cardinals was virtually unmatched. Roy's elder years always started with an early morning breakfast with the guys at the Hardee's Breakfast Club on 159 in Glen Carbon.

Surviving are his two sisters: Frances Jenkins of Glen Carbon and Marilyn (Charles) Graff of Kansas City, MO; nephew, Alan Graff; two great nieces: Calina & Kayla Graff; great nephew Carter Graff; and dozens of cousins scattered throughout the states.

Visitation will be held from 9 - 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 26, 2024 at Barry Wilson Funeral Home in Maryville, IL.

Funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. with Rev. Andy Adams officiating.  Burial will be in Matlock Cemetery, St. James, MO.

Memorials are suggested to St. Jude Children's Hospital and will be received at the visitation or can be mailed to Barry Wilson Funeral Home, 2800 N. Center Street, Maryville, IL 62062.
