Ruth M. Froman, age 97 of Maryville, IL, born August 5, 1926 in Duluth, MN, passed away on Saturday, October 7, 2023 at Elmwood Nursing Home in Maryville.

Ruth and her late husband, Claude, were motorhome travelers spending their winters in Florida and Texas, and summers in Minnesota and Canada.  She was active in the Assembly of God Church in Maryville and Rev. George and Isabelle Ankarlo were frequent travel companions. Her favorite pastime was crocheting and she made many beautiful afghans, scarves, and other items.

In addition to her husband, Claude G. Froman, whom she married October 24, 1945, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Clarice Holtgrave; parents, George and Clara E. (nee Kimball) Burleigh; and seven brothers:  Henry, Arthur, Alvin, Darrell, Marvin, George and Willis.

Surviving are a daughter, Claudia "Dolly" (Richard) Foster of St. Louis County, MO; son-in-law, Michael Holtgrave of Maryville, IL; two grandchildren:  Tammi (Barry) Young of Blue Springs, MO and Nicholas (Kelli) Buckhannon of Maryville, IL; four great-grandchildren:  Lauren, Kaitlyn, Kaleb and Nicole; one great-great granddaughter, Amelia; numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday, October 13, 2023 at Barry Wilson Funeral Home in Maryville, IL.

Funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. with Rev. Kevin Wilson officiating.  Burial will be in St. John Cemetery, Collinsville, IL.
