Obituary

Ryan D. Parrill, age 50, of Collinsville, IL, born October 30, 1973 in Belleville, IL, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 10, 2024 at St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis, MO.

Ryan was a 1991 Collinsville High School graduate where he lettered in baseball and football. He was President of the Monogram Club.  He received a Bachelor's Degree in Communications from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale

After college he played softball, and later became a well-respected softball umpire. Ryan was an avid swimmer.  On his swim teams, Ryan was known for his butterfly stroke, where he competed in the Prairie State Games.  He was proud that he is still a SWISA record holder in the 8 and under free relay from 1982.  He was a trivia expert and was asked to be on many trivia teams.  He was a proud SIU-C Alumni and a Saluki fan. He loved sports.  He was a lifelong Cardinal Baseball fan and a Green Bay Packers fan. He was a member of SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Collinsville. He will be remembered for his kind heart and warm smile.  He was a devoted son, brother, and uncle.  He was the fan in the stands watching his nephews and niece do what they love. He also loved the time he spent at the Lake of the Ozarks.

He was preceded in death by his father, Walter D. Parrill.

He is survived by his mother, Mary Ann (Kucinick) Parrill; his brother, Eric (Devon) Parrill; niece and nephews: Jackson, Taylor, and Carson; and many relatives, and friends.

Memorial visitation will be held from 3 -7 p.m. on Friday, March 15, 2024 at Barry Wilson Funeral Home in Maryville, IL and from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 16, 2024 at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Collinsville.

A memorial mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 16, 2024, immediately following the visitation at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Collinsville, with Father Mike Haag and Father John Beveridge, celebrants.

Memorials are suggested to Kahok Strong, the Collinsville Food Pantry Tote-Me-Home Program, or the REACH Program and will be received at the visitation or may be mailed to Barry Wilson Funeral Home, 2800 N. Center Street, Maryville, IL 62062.
