Shirley Mae Cuff, age 95 of Collinsville, IL, born April 14, 1929 in East St. Louis, IL, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 23, 2024 at Stillwater Senior Living & Memory Care in Edwardsville, IL surrounded by her loving family.
Shirley was an East St. Louis High School graduate, Class of 1947. After her marriage, she was a homemaker and worked part-time as a legal secretary. She was a lifetime member of Meadow Heights Baptist Church in Collinsville where she was a former Sunday School teacher and a member of various women's groups in the church and at state level. She loved planting flowers and enjoyed their beauty. Shirley dedicated her spare time to being a mother and grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Edith (nee Dingerson) Applegett; a granddaughter, Amanda Cuff; and her in-laws, Joe and Marie Cuff.
Surviving are her devoted husband of 74 years, James Cuff, whom she married October 7, 1949; three sons: James (Barbara) Cuff, Tim (Martha) Cuff and Mark Cuff; three daughters: Lynne (Jim) Kerfoot, Jayne (Steve) Gaumer, and Barb (Connie) Cuff Price; 15 grandchildren: Jimmy Cuff, Sara Collier, JR Kerfoot, Jeremy Kerfoot, Joe Kerfoot, Jacob Cuff, Lucas Cuff, Marcus Cuff, Amanda Cuff, David Snodgrass, Erin Strole, Michael Gaumer, Elizabeth Gaumer, Nic Cuff Price and Joshua Cuff Price; 23 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be 4 – 7 p.m. on Monday, April 29, 2024 at Meadow Heights Baptist Church in Collinsville and 10 – 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 30, 2024 at the church.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday with Rev. Jim Robinson officiating. Burial will be in Holy Cross Lutheran Cemetery, Collinsville.
Memorials are suggested to Meadow Heights Baptist Church, Stillwater Senior Living Memory Care Activities Fund or Family Hospice of Belleville and will be received at the visitation or can be mailed to Barry Wilson Funeral Home, 2800 N. Center Street, Maryville, IL 62062.
