Susan Jean Smith, age 60 of Collinsville, IL, passed away on Tuesday, December 26, 2023 at her residence.

She was born July 10, 1963 in East St. Louis, IL to the late Leland E. "Smitty" and Gloria "Gayle" (nee Ballew) Smith.  She graduated Collinsville High School in 1981 then studied at Quincy College for two years to become a jeweler.  She worked for many years at the former Grandpa's Jewelry and L.E. Smith Jewelers in Collinsville.  She loved horses and peacocks, camping, going out to eat, fishing, and watching the Kansas City Chiefs.

She is survived by her seven siblings:  Georgia (Troy) Crites of Fenton, MO, Gloria (Tom) Fayollat of Glen Carbon, IL, Cindy (Mack) Fortenberry of Zephyr, TX, Eddie (Sherri) Smith of Belleville, IL, Jimmy (Lisa) Smith of Highland, IL, June (Mike) Zavaglia of Edwardsville, IL, and Casey Smith of Collinsville, IL; numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 12 noon on Tuesday, January 2, 2024 at Barry Wilson Funeral Home in Maryville, IL.

Funeral service will follow at 12 noon with Rev. Ron Habermehl officiating.  Burial will be in St. John Cemetery, Collinsville, next to her grandparents.
