Terry "T-Man"
Tayloe
Dec 30, 1937 — Mar 21, 2026
Collinsville
Terry Arlen Tayloe, 88 of Collinsville, Illinois, passed away on March 21, 2026. Known by many as "T" or "T-Man," Terry was a long-time teacher at Collinsville High School, where he taught math and college prep English.
Terry was born on December 30, 1937, in Jefferson City, Missouri, to John Henry and Helen Brannan. He spent his early years living in Belle, Missouri and Granite City, Illinois. He graduated from Granite City High School in 1955. During high school, he held a job as a "soda jerk." In 1956, Terry enlisted with the Air Force, serving as a reservist until honorably discharged in 1965. Terry earned a Bachelor of Science in Math and a Master of Arts in English, both from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville (SIUE).
Terry was an avid bowler and golfer and loved to spend time fishing. He was a devoted and vocal Missouri Tigers fan and a loyal fan of St. Louis Cardinals baseball. He visited countless major league ballparks all around the country, and he traveled extensively.
T-Man was known for his golf hats, his dry wit, his local football league (the TFL), and TWO "300" games bowled and certified by the United States Bowling Congress. He enjoyed cooking, grilling, and playing pool at home. He had a love of literature (Kafka, Shakespeare, Faulkner, to name a few), and yet he never missed an episode of The Price is Right.
He is survived by his daughter, Kristi (Jason) Wawro, his granddaughter Ruby Wawro; his grandchildren Alyssa Tayloe and Andrew Tayloe; and his former spouse Lana Tayloe.
Terry was preceded in death by his parents, John Henry (Hank) Brannan and Helen Halbe; his older sister, Jo Gayle Belt; and his son, Bradley Tayloe.
The family wishes to give our heartfelt gratitude to his incredible and special caregiver, Angie Holland, and to the wonderful staff at San Gabriel Memory Care in Highland. We also extend our deepest thanks to our hospice team from VITAS.
A private family burial will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery. In place of a visitation and service, a Celebration of Life will be held at Camelot Bowl in Collinsville on Wednesday, April 15, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to KahokStrong: https://www.kahoks.org/kahokstrong
