Obituary

Terry Wayne Zamarione, a beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, passed away peacefully at his home on February 7, 2025, at the age of 88, surrounded by his family.

He was born October 25, 1936, in Collinsville, IL, to the late Anthony and Marie (nee Erlich) Zamarione, their oldest child and only son. He graduated from Collinsville High School, Class of 1954, where he played in the band. Terry was a talented musician, playing the trumpet every weekend in the Abbie Kneedler Band. He met the love of his life, Marianne Semon, at a dance and it was love at first sight. They married on October 1, 1960.

Terry honorably served in the United States Army Reserve for six years. While serving he played Taps for military veteran's funerals. He worked at the US Post Office for over 35 years, retiring as Collinsville Assistant Postmaster. He was a member of Mother of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Maryville and previously was involved with the Men's Booster Club.

Terry was an avid outdoorsman who in his younger years enjoyed trout fishing at Bennett Spring State Park with his wife and close friends, Tom & Marynelle McCarthy, and duck hunting with his dad, sons, Eric and Todd, and best friend, Ron Dekum. For the last 35 years he has been able to enjoy living on a lake and fishing right in his own backyard any time he wanted.

His love for nature was matched only by his enthusiasm for the game of golf, which he enjoyed playing and eventually marshalling at Arlington Golf Course. He could often be found at the Edwardsville Moose Lodge, sharing meals and stories with friends, or sipping coffee with fellow members at the CMT YMCA Coffee Club.

Family was at the heart of Terry's life. For many years, he and Marianne faithfully supported their two sons following them to their soccer/baseball/softball games and tournaments. He took immense pride in his grandchildren, often boasting about their achievements and attending their sporting events with great enthusiasm. He shared a special bond with his only grandson, Dominic, engaging in countless conversations about hunting and numerous rides to Carlyle Lake to show him where he used to hunt.

Terry loved to relax at home in his sunroom watching St. Louis Cardinals Baseball, St. Louis Blues Hockey, and golf. He and his wife enjoyed traveling together.

Terry lived a life filled with passion, adventure, and unwavering dedication to his family. His warmth, humor and love for life will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Rest in peace, Terry. Your spirit will live on in the hearts of those you loved and who loved you in return.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Tony and Marie Zamarione; and a brother-in-law, Daryl Blumberg.

Surviving to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Marianne Zamarione; two beloved sons: Eric (Jeanine) Zamarione and Todd (Linda) Zamarione, both of Maryville, IL; three granddaughters: Dr. Ashley (Cody) Osborn, Courtney Zamarione and Lauren Zamarione; one grandson, Dominic Zamarione; two sisters: Judy Blumberg of St. Charles, MO and Bev (Ken) Eichelberger of MO; nieces and nephews and numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews.
