Thomas Franklin Woodward, age 92 of Maryville, IL, born January 23, 1932, in Berwyn, IL, passed away on Friday, June 28, 2024, at his residence surrounded by his family.
Thomas graduated from Morton East High School in Cicero, IL, in 1949. He went on to study at the Illinois Institute of Technology, graduating in 1958, as well as the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Thomas served in the United States Navy Reserves from 1951 to 1953. He actively served in the United States Navy from 1953 to 1955. He married the late Joyce Edna (nee Mormann) Woodward on May 11, 1957, whom he was married to for almost 67 years. Thomas enjoyed bowling, building and flying radio-controlled model aircraft, camping, fishing, home improvement jobs and spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife, Joyce, he is preceded in death by his parents: Robert F. Woodward and Agnes V. (nee Stroph) Woodward; one brother, Kenneth Woodward.
Surviving are his two sons: William R. (Susan) Woodward of Virginia Beach, VA and David C. (Carolyn) Woodward of Troy, IL; a daughter, Sandra J. (David) Wallace of Troy, IL; 12 grandchildren: Michael Woodward, Brandon Woodward, Kathryn Woodward, Kira Carper (nee Wallace), Paul Wallace, Tara Williams (nee Wallace), Sara Corcoran (nee Wallace), Jonathan Woodward, Jordan Woodward, Jacob Woodward, Nathan Pierce, and Eric Pierce; 11 great-grandchildren: Riley Woodward, Luke Woodward, Hudson Woodward, Reagan Woodward, Kinsley Woodward, Landan Carper, Jackson Carper, Layla Williams, Joseph Williams, Brayden Corcoran, and Taylor Corcoran.
Memorial Visitation will be from 4 pm to 7 pm on Thursday, July 18, 2024, at Barry Wilson Funeral Home in Maryville, IL.
Burial at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery 2900 Sheridan Rd. St. Louis, MO 63125 with full military honors on Friday, July 19, 2024 at 1 pm.
