Walter E. Hutt, Jr.

Walter Edward Hutt, Jr., 77, of Maryville, IL, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 18, 2026, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

Walter was born on December 15, 1948, in St. Louis, MO, to the late Walter Sr. and Mary (nee Carrino) Hutt. He was a retired electrician and a man of many talents. Walter was an avid golfer and enjoyed working with leather and wood, especially creating beautiful furniture. He also loved to cook for his family and took great pride in sharing his talents and the things he created with those he loved.

Walter honorably served in the United States Army and completed two tours in Vietnam. He courageously volunteered to serve a second tour so that his brothers would not have to go. He served his country valiantly and carried that sense of devotion and selflessness throughout his life.

Walter will be remembered for his incredible talents, generous spirit, sense of humor, and, most of all, his deep love for his family. He leaves behind a lifetime of memories that will be cherished by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Annelies (nee Avooske) Hutt, whom he married on January 19, 1973; two daughters, Sabine Hutt of Maryville, IL, and Treaunna Bedrosian of Maryville, IL; two grandchildren, Jackson Bedrosian and Landen Bedrosian; four brothers, Lawrence “Mike” (Susan) Hutt of Roxana, IL, James Hutt of St. Jacob, IL, Fred (Patti) Hutt of St. Jacob, IL, and David Hutt of Maryville, IL; two sisters, Sandy (Don) Wessels of Caseyville, IL, and Donna (Kevin) Horath of Iola, IL; a sister-in-law, Susan (Phillip) Andrews of Glen Carbon, IL; two aunts, Joy Reis of St. Louis, MO, and Sally Carrino of St. Charles, MO; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends.

A graveside service with military honors will be held at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis. The date and time will be announced at a later date.

Memorials are suggested to the Belleville Area Humane Society and may be received at Barry Wilson Funeral Home, 2800 N. Center Street, Maryville, IL 62062.
